The Painting Competition Maľba has been a respected event for two decades and a lasting part of the development of the artistic and cultural environment in Slovakia. Over its history, it has recorded nearly two thousand submitted works by emerging young women and men painters. Independent international juries have awarded prizes and financial support to a total of 51 talents who have become part of the list of the most prominent names in contemporary painting in our country. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its Painting Competition Maľba, the VÚB Foundation has prepared a special retrospective exhibition of all the awarded works. The exhibition will be open to the general public with free admission at the Nedbalka Gallery from January 30 to March 1, 2026.
Bratislava, September 18, 2025 – Paula Gogola, Adam Baník and Eva Vaňová are the three artists whose works received the highest recognition in the 20th anniversary edition of the prestigious Maľba competition. The trio of winners was awarded not only the recognition of an international jury of experts but also a total cash prize of €30,000. First and second place went to newcomers who reached the competition’s finals for the very first time this year. Once again, the VÚB Foundation, the organizer of the competition, is opening the world of young art to everyone. The works of the 20 finalists can be seen free of charge at Bratislava’s Nedbalka Gallery until October 26.
