Since 2021, has studied in Doz. O. Hudec’s Contemporary Painting Studio at the Faculty of Arts in the Technical University, Košice. 2025, completed her Bachelor’s Degree. 2026, finalist in the Painting Competition. 

Nancy Lacová, a debutante in the Competition, bases her painting on personal experience and exploration of the memory of a locality, combining visual art with research. She is interested in the human being’s relation to architecture and his/her immediate setting. Those are perceived not as a mere backdrop but as bearers of layered traces of the past; Lacová thinks of them as a living organism, in which she inscribes human activity. At the centre of her interest is buildings with their material foundation, construction, and changes caused by time. Alongside painting, she also avails of overlaps into other media. Characteristic of her art is working with layering and vistas and sensitive work with material, via which she explores the relationship between the physical structure of a space and its memory.   

Her final entry Do You Still Hear That Space? (2025) is part of her series Memories of Walls, which examines architecture as a bearer of personal and collective stories. In the painting a former JRD (agricultural cooperative) changes from a physical object to a space of memory: a place where history intersects with the present, and personal experience with collective remembrance. Without seeking to produce an exact record of reality, the artist works with the emotional impression of the place and the question of what remains after the human being, when the space has ceased to fulfil its original function. Lacová is not attempting to capture the architecture in documentary fashion; using a painterly language, she explores its materiality, marked by the agency of time. Expressive in gesture, working with a dense layer of colour and pastose structure, she changes the particular object into a pictorial reality in which the physical substance of the building is progressively abstracted.
