2007 – 2013, studied at the Faculty of Arts of the Technical University in Košice at the Department of Fine Arts and Intermedia in the studio of free 3D creativity under Professor Juraj Bartusz. He lives in Prešov.
Štefan Šoltis, another newcomer to the competition, also, takes an unconventional approach to the process of painting. He does not create paintings using classical techniques, but uses various household objects or working tools in his work, but also larger pieces of furniture, a sewing machine, a chair, a table, a wardrobe... The brush for him becomes the chosen object - an ordinary object, which he adapts for painting or creates himself. If he uses a larger piece of furniture as a painting tool, he uses its movement by means of mounted wheels on which containers filled with black paint are attached. As it moved, it dripped onto the floor, onto the canvas spread right on the ground. The author has thus created loose records: with thick lines, dabs, imprints, traces in the direction of movement. The result is an experiment between action painting, drawing, a gestural, energetic record in which chaos becomes an orderly trajectory of movement.
